Zones determine which countries or geographical regions your products can ship to. This allows you to prevent customers with addresses outside of your shipping borders from completing their checkout. If you ship to more than one country or region, you can set up different shipping methods and rates for each zone.
If you’ve used shipping zones in Shopify, Intuitive Shipping zones work in a similar way, with the added benefit of sub-zones. Best of all, you can control all of your zones right in the app! You don't need to worry about managing shipping zones in Shopify or remembering to sync changes with Intuitive Shipping.

How It Works
To use Intuitive Shipping, you need to create at least one Scenario with at least one shipping method. Each time you create a shipping method within a Scenario, you are prompted to select the zone that the shipping method is assigned to.
For example, if your store is based in the US and you want to set up a domestic parcel service with your preferred carrier, you’ll need to have a zone for the US, or whichever part of the US you ship to. Then you’ll be able to assign the domestic carrier service to that zone.
Installation Setup
When you install Intuitive Shipping, you can choose to have your Shopify shipping zone settings migrated to the app. If you choose this option, Intuitive Shipping will automatically configure your zones the same way they are configured in your Shopify admin settings, if possible. This can save you from having to do your entire zone setup all over again.
Zone settings migrated to Intuitive Shipping from Shopify can be edited at any time.
If you choose not to migrate your Shopify zone settings, or if you haven’t configured your Shopify shipping zones, all countries and regions are automatically included in a default zone called ‘Rest of world’ which cannot be edited manually.
Once you create a new custom zone in Intuitive Shipping, any countries or regions added to it are removed from ‘Rest of world’ automatically.
While it is technically possible to have only the ‘Rest of world’ zone, it is very likely that you will, at a minimum, need to set up a domestic zone for your own country or region. If zones are not being migrated from Shopify, we strongly recommend setting up at least one custom zone after installing the app.
That means, you’ll need to complete the setup process below at least once before creating any shipping methods.
Any zone, including the ‘Rest of world’ zone, can be added to or excluded from a shipping method.
You do not need to delete your Shopify shipping zones after you’ve installed Intuitive Shipping. In fact, you’ll always need to have at least one active shipping zone in Shopify that covers every country or region you ship to.
Why?
Shopify uses their zones to control rates, even from carriers and apps. That means, Intuitive Shipping must be listed as a carrier service on all active Shopify shipping zones in order for rates to be displayed to customers who live in those zones, even if they are configured differently in the app.

Zone Configurations
You can configure Intuitive Shipping zones in a number of different ways. A zone can include one or more countries or regions. For example, you can create a single zone that includes all EU countries and regions.
Alternatively, you can create multiple zones for smaller groups and individual countries if they each have different shipping rates or methods.
In some cases, you can drill down even further so you can create zones for specific states, provinces or territories within a country.
For example, you can create a zone in Australia that excludes Western Australia.
Or, you can create a US zone that includes only the 48 continental states.
And, for even greater control of your shipping, you can add sub-zones to a parent zone. Sub-zones are a collection of postal codes or zip codes within the parent zone.
For example, you can create a zone just for Ontario, Canada, then create a sub-zone within Ontario that excludes northern rural areas in the province.
You can create as many zones as you need!
Each country or region can only be added to one parent zone.
However, within a parent zone, you can create sub-zones that overlap.
For example, you cannot have two zones that include the state of California. If California has been added to one zone already, it will no longer be selectable for new zones.
But, you can create multiple sub-zones within the parent zone containing California that include the same zip codes or zip code ranges. This is useful if you have one shipping method that applies to multiple postal code/zip code areas while another shipping method only applies to one of those areas.
Create A Zone
Click Shipping on the sidebar menu, then select Zones from the drop-down list.
Click the Create zone button.
General Settings
Enter a zone title.
Zone titles are not visible to customers.
Set the zone status.
You have three (3) settings to choose from:
Off – the zone will be ignored. Shipping methods will not be visible at checkout for addresses in the zone, even in Setup & Testing Mode.
Test – shipping methods will be visible at checkout for addresses in the zone only when you use the word ‘Intuitive’ as either the customer’s first or last name.
On – shipping methods will be visible at checkout for addresses in the zone. This is the default setting.
While in Setup & Testing Mode, ‘On’ will function the same as ‘Test’ until you have activated a billing plan to begin your free trial.

Shipping Locations
Type the name of a country or region, such as a territory, island, province or state, into the search field, or scroll through the list. The search results are dynamic and will update as you type.
Click the check box beside the country or region name to select and include it in the zone.
Where applicable, and if desired, click the downward arrow beside the number of regions to expand the list of selectable regions within the country.
When you select a country with regions, all regions within the country are automatically selected and included in the zone by default.
If desired, click the check box beside one or more regions to deselect and exclude them from the zone.
When you deselect one or more regions within a country, the parent country is also deselected automatically.
Save Your Settings
Click the Save button to save your zone.
New zones must be saved before you can add a sub-zone. Sub-zones are optional – they are not required.

Deleting Zones
If desired, you delete a zone at any time after it’s been saved. Countries or regions from a deleted zone will automatically be re-assigned to the ‘Rest of world’ zone.
A warning message will be displayed if you attempt to delete a zone that has shipping methods assigned to it.
If you want remove a zone – either a zone that was set up during the installation process or one that you set up manually – you can do so easily.
Deleting a zone is permanent and cannot be undone.
1) Click Edit beside the zone you wish to delete.
Scroll to the bottom of the page, then click the Delete button.
Click the Delete button on the pop-up box to acknowledge that the zone is being permanently deleted, and continue deleting the zone.
